The AI in Education at Duke Summit
Thursday, May 28, 2026
8:30 am – 4:30 pm at the Washington Duke Inn
The AI in Education at Duke Summit will bring together those from across Duke University who care about the role of AI and its influence on education, for a dynamic and collaborative exploration of how artificial intelligence is shaping teaching and learning. Along with presentations, the Summit will feature interactive, participatory experiences that invite attendees into meaningful discussion, hands-on engagement, and cross-disciplinary exchange. The Summit will create space for educators to share ideas, critically examine the opportunities and challenges of AI in the classroom, and build a vibrant community of practice around thoughtful and effective AI integration in education.
Registration Information
Registration for the Summit is free and open to current Duke faculty, staff, and students, and will close on May 21.
Pre-Summit Workshops
On Wednesday, May 27, the Office of Information Technology, the Innovation Co-Lab, and the Center for Teaching and Learning are offering several workshops serving a range of experience levels with AI tools. All workshops will be held in person on Duke campus, and must be registered for separately from Summit registration. The workshops are free and open to all members of the Duke community, regardless of Summit registration status.
Call for Submissions: Showcase Session
The Summit Showcase will highlight exemplars in the use of AI in education, as well as research related to the use of AI in education, in a poster and demo session. During the Showcase, Summit attendees will move from station to station, engaging with the posters and demonstrations in small informal conversations and discussions.
We invite any member of the Duke community to submit a Showcase topic, including faculty, students, trainees, and staff. Submissions have the option to propose a poster, a demonstration, or both format.
The Showcase submission deadline has passed. Accepted proposals will be notified within approximately one week of submission. Those who proposed a poster will also receive a poster template with the correct dimensions.
